Programs for Varying Ages Students from 4th Grade up to High School Seniors can have their educational experience enhanced with a greater exposure to STEM and business. Competition at Different Levels Students have the opportunity to participate in competitions at the local, state, regional, and international levels - all while showing gracious professionalism. "The hardest fun you’ll ever have" No matter if you’re a student, parent, volunteer, or coach. Home admin 2017-08-21T22:14:15+00:00 Welcome You’re at the newly refreshed hub for the Saint Joseph Public Schools Robotics Program. The necessity to have this landing page came from the formation of several teams in the district, and with each, their own website under this domain. From this hub you can learn about the programs we have – visit the websites for our teams and learn more about them, their accomplishments and how you can get involved. FIRST Lego® League (FLL) Grades 4 & 5. Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by adult Coaches, teams (up to 10 members per team) research a real-world and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, and program a robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS®, then compete on a table-top playing field against other teams while learning and demonstrating the FLL Core Values. The FLL season runs August to December. Learn More FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Grades 6-8. It’s way more than building robots. FTC teams (up to 15 members per team) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate larger and more complex robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. The FTC seasons runs September to December. Learn More FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Grades 9-12. Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FRC the Ultimate Sport for the Mind. Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team brand”, hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship. FRC team members can earn a high school letter and are eligible for FIRST scholarships. The FRC Season runs January to April. Learn More About FIRST FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), is a non-profit organization based out of Manchester, NH. FIRST designs programs to help spark the interest of young people to help inspire future engineers and scientists. FIRST was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen who is an inventor, entrepreneur, and advocate for science and technology. For more information on FIRST , its history and how you can get involved, visit their website at https://www.firstinspires.org Copyright © 2019 Saint Joseph Robotics Program | All Rights Reserved | Powered by WordPress | Maintained & Built by Engelhardt Creative...
